Sept 2005/July 2006 Wilsden Pre-School Profile

What have been our successes this year?

  • We have run a full nursery school  with 26 children at every session and had children, on a waiting list.
  • In July 2008 we passed two quality assurance schemes - I Can Early Talk Level 1 and Inclusion Quality Standard Silver Award
  • We received "Outstanding" for five areas and "Good" for the remaining nine, in our last Ofsted Inspection, 19 May 2009


 


How are we ensuring our children to enjoy and achieve?

  • We received "Outstanding" from Ofsted on 19 May 2009 because:-   
  1. We have an extensive range of extremely interesting, exciting and innovative play opportunities
  2. Meticulous planning, observation and assessment
  3. Good systems for self-evaluation and plans for the future are clearly targeted in order to secure futher improvements
  4. Our room is inspiring, stimulating and we offer high levels of challenge which is highly accessible.
  5. The room is set-up so children can make choices to enable them to be engrossed in an extensive range of activities
  6. Staff are highly motivated and they fully support childrens learning through excellent questioning and first class interaction
  7. Children develop excellent communication skills and learn to value and appreciate different cultures and linguistic diversity by exchanging greetings in different languages at registration time
  • Our focus activities incorporate the levels of the foundation stage profile so all children can achieve at their own pace.

  • The comments on the exit questionnaire positively stated the children enjoyed coming to pre-school and the parents are happy with the provision and staff.

  • Through observations and photographs the staff look at each unique child and plan accordingly                                                                
  • Through weekly team meetings staff keep in contact about the children and what they are to achieve next

  • Our Foundation Stage Profile Sheets are passed on to our children's Primary School for their staff to work on during the holidays. Children who leave our setting do so on level two, and some dabble in level three

  • Regular meetings are held with the parents and key workers enabling staff to keep up to date with the children and their interests.
