Here are two photographs of the pattern and the core boxes used to make the mold for the Nema 23 motor mount.
The picture to the left shows a filled silicate bonded mold, this particular mold was prepared a week before it was poured.
The picture shows the shakeout of the casting from the mold, ( breaking apart the silicate bonded mold is really quite difficult and is one of the reasons that silicate bonded sands are really only used in industry now for core production.
here we have the finished product awaiting machining.
