Electronics was my first hobby, I grew up on 741 op amps and transistors and Z80 cpu's. I now dabble with all sorts of stuff and I'm amazed at what they can get into the average size chip these days. I still do a lot of discrete electronics but it does tend to be more PIC based these days as it is just so easy.
