The Burner

This is the scariest thing I have ever made. The blower is a 100 cubic feet per minute, salvaged from a mainframe diskdrive where they are used to provide positive pressure, this feeds into a manifold via a butterfly valve, beyond the valve there is a natural venturi formed by the gas delivery pipe ( 15mm ). The main burner pipe is 2” diameter.

This picture shows the first test firing of the burner, the flame is about 2 feet long and the radiated heat of the flame was tremendous.


	This was the only time I tested the burner outside of the furnace housing and for good reason, without the tuer hole of the furnace the flame front drops just into the mouth of the burner tube. After just 15 seconds of burning like this the vice was too hot to touch!
